Schools and Colleges – is technology making your job easier?

In a recent speech to the World Education Forum UK Education Secretary Damian Hinds outlined that only a minority of Schools and Colleges are currently taking advantage of the opportunities that education technology offers.

Establishing the effectiveness and quality of your school or college’s careers education programme against the Gatsby Benchmarks and comparing your results to other schools is a great place to start in planning or improving your offer.

Technology to help you

There are a range of applications and programs designed to help career leads and teachers audit their careers provision.

Compass is a free online self-evaluation tool for schools to assess their careers support against the Gatsby Benchmarks and the national average. Schools should baseline themselves using this tool, highlight improvement opportunities and track progress against the Benchmarks over time. Read more.

Members of the Enterprise Adviser Network can gain access to the Tracker careers planning tool. Tracker can be used to record and plan careers activities, and identifies how to improve Gatsby Benchmark scores from your Compass evaluation with the activities that you plan.

Grofar, developed with the CDI, provides a comprehensive student database and records and tracks career education. The database is linked with SIMS to make implementation simple. Grofar offers a free demo for interested schools and colleges. Find out more.
