Help for West Somerset Residents - Access to Employment and Learning Fund
The Access to Employment and Learning Fund has been developed by West Somerset Council to help address some of the barriers that prevent local residents from accessing employment and learning opportunities.
Thanks to Department for Education (DfE) Opportunity Area funding, the grant will support more West Somerset residents to access new and existing employment and learning opportunities in the area.
Who is it for and what does it cover?
The Access to Employment & Learning Fund can be used by West Somerset residents to address barriers including, but not limited to:
- Transport - i.e. to assist with getting to an employment or learning opportunity
- Essential work equipment and workwear - i.e. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or interview outfit
- Childcare costs (where these are not covered by existing government initiatives).
Where relevant the fund can also cover the cost of a learning course. If you have any other barriers to employment or learning which are not listed, please contact West Somerset Council to discuss your needs and whether this grant can help.
Training and Community Learning Providers may also apply to help deliver learning opportunities to smaller cohorts of learners, where low numbers render delivery unviable.
