The Castle School launches Careers Award for students

The Castle School - winners of the Somerset Education Business Partnership award for Careers Inspiration in Education earlier this year - have launched their own school careers award which is being rolled out to all students over this academic year.

The purpose of creating this award is to give all students the opportunity to work towards an award that will demonstrate to prospective employers, colleges and universities that the student has gained key employability skills.  This will serve to enhance a student’s CV and will enable them to discuss how they have achieved these skills at an interview.

Often students are unaware of the skills they already have that employers look for.  The award will help them to reflect on their current skills and help them to develop further skills.

On the enrichment day in October students began to prepare their Careers Action Plan which is the first part of the Careers Award.  The award has three different levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Students will receive a badge and certificate on achieving the award and award sponsors, Audi, will donate vouchers to the student awarded Outstanding Participation in Careers Education at the awards evening in the summer term.

Parents have been asked to encourage their child to participate in the awards as it could really boost their confidence when applying for college, university, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

We wish all students who take part the very best of luck!
