Work Experience Journal
The Work Experience Journal has been designed to make it easy and engaging for students to capture their thoughts and learnings as they complete their work experience placement.
The journal encourages students to properly prepare for their placement and to consider important topics such as Health and Safety both before and while they are on placement.
The daily journal pages invite students to reflect on their day and think about what they have learned. The more informal layout allows students to record their thoughts in a way that is engaging for them. The daily journal pages also include places to record goals and mini challenges for the students to complete the following day – prompting them to engage with their colleagues and ask questions.
The work experience journal can be downloaded as a printable document or used online. There are supplementary pages that can be used if work placements extend beyond five working days.
The journal is designed to become part of the student’s personal careers portfolio and can be a useful tool in interviews with Careers Advisors or tutors or discussions within families.
The Somerset Work Experience Partnership maintains and delivers the administration for the Work Experience offer for the secondary schools across the county and in parts of Dorset. The Work Experience Journal has been created with the Somerset Work Experience Partnership, Somerset 14-19 Partnership and the Somerset Education Business Partnership.
