Duke of Edinburgh's Award

World’s most successful youth development programme supports young people’s preparation for work and life. The DofE is nationally and internationally recognised by employers and universities as the best development program young people can complete.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s rounded development programme can be incorporated into Foundation Learning and E2E programmes, apprenticeships and traineeships (which last 6+ months).

The Somerset County Council DofE Team supports schools, colleges, training providers, employers and voluntary organisations to provide DofE programmes for 13-24 year olds.  Young people can also access the award directly through the Somerset DofE Team who can support individuals to complete their award through an Open Award Programme

The DofE is a self-led programme for learners aged 14 to 24 and normally lasts between 6 to 18 months depending on the award level and entry point.
